A Quick Chart of The Best Wine to Serve with Your Menu


If company is coming and you would like to serve the correct wine with the food you are preparing, then this is the chart for you.  Otherwise, you might end up standing in the store gazing at hundreds of wines not knowing which to select.
 
Below is an easy to read chart showing types of wine and types of foods go well together.  No more will you need to worry if your favorite Savignon Blanc or that interesting looking Zinfandel is the right choice!  Just print this out and tuck it in your pocket when you go shopping.

About Wine Types - Some Basics to Remember

Remember in this vast wine market, there is a perfect wine companion for every food. Whether you like smooth, sweet Madeira or a crisp dry red Merlot; next time you're gazing at the wine aisle this little chart will help you be equipped with the knowledge to choose the right wine for the food in your basket.

But first, it helps to understand a bit about the types of wine.  There are four major types and this list shows the names of wines in that type:

Names of Dry White Wines: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chablis, Semillon, Chenin Blanc

Names of Dry Red Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz/Syrah, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc

Names of Semi Sweet, Semi Dry Wines: White Zinfandel, White Pinot Noir, Rose, Riesling, Muscat Cannelli
